. still, momentum of romney last night. the panel, jonah goldberg from national review online. a.b. stoddard from the hill. syndicated columnist charles krauthammer. jonah, now looking forward, we've got washington state on saturday. and then super tuesday coming up. what about this race and where we stand? >> i think going forward, the path for romney is clearer than it's been in a while. but at the same time, not t he l take fire the entire way. i think his victory over michigan was huge -- the victory in michigan was huge. insofar if he lost it would have been disastrous. not a big a deal on the positive side he won. hammer and tongs in ohio where the media and candidates will set up a significant contest. romney is the only one you can see the path to the nomination. it doesn't mean it's easy for him. >> bret: a.b., he seemed relieved last night and on the stump today anecdotally from the reporters covering him looser. >> yeah. >> bret: the romney campaign has a spring in their step. >> that's because when you cheat death, there is a rush of relief. as for people who were ner
journal" or jonah goldberg the "national review," erick erickson, rush limbaugh even weighed in on this thing going, come on, don't make it so easy for the democrats. >> it doesn't help with a certain narrative that might not be good for him for this presidential election. i'll leave it there. >> at least he's not rich. that's the thing. >> no, he's filthy rich, actually, but that's okay. >> see, that's the difference between democrats and republicans. republicans don't think you can ever be "filthy rich." >> you can't be rich enough. can you? you have to devour everything. >> absolutely. >> you don't really care about the impact it has on your life or your future. >> well, i think, you know, there are two impacts. the obvious thing, it adds another clip to david axelrod's greatest hits reel he can run as that caricature mitt romney as ritchie rich, and that's all true. but i think, joe, you're pointing to something important which is, you know, conservatives -- it fuels -- establishmentarians, it fuels their sense of concern. the paramount strategic challenge of any presiden
in -- jonah goldburg sad if you could take ron paul's stance on monetary policy and newt gingerich's stance on fiscal responsibility, balancing budgets, stake santorum's conservatism and put them in mitt romney's shell it would be perfect. karl rove says everyone will step in line. i'm not sure. >> that's the problem. he's the shell. he's not any of those things. >> i don't know. i mean i look at something like the florida win, which was decisive and representative. florida is a representative state of the rest of the country's population. he won it decisively. he spent a lot of money, the others maybe not as much. one thing is rick tyler, the spokesperson for gingrich's pac, winning our future. he was quoted today saying they were forced to counter mitt with a scorched earth campaign and by the end, there will be no one left to vote against obama. it's sort of like, isn't that the point of your candidacy? don't we want to vote for the run, not against? >> anger and fear is not a motivating reason to go out and get out of your house. >> it's not to cross the finish line. >> he's going to wa
against bullying. >> reporter: jonah mawry says he's been bullied since he was in first place. a video he posted about being bullying has been seen by hundreds. teens want to enlist lady gaga and president obama in their crusade. >>> anti smoking advocates team up with james bruner today. brunner along with volunteers with the lung association and clinica de la rasa joined to announce signs for no smoking. >> it is that time of year for an unusual optical illusion at yosemite national park. this is a picture from yosemite of a water fall. the water cascading over dark rock looks more like lava. the phenomenon lasts only a few hours a day and will probably only last a few days this year. >>> the weekend a bit cloudy and cool in places. but not this weekend, it's going to be warm and it's going to be dry. you can see the clouds lingering up in the north bay. a little patchy valley fog but shouldn't be widespread. forecast overnights will be in the 40s. tomorrow, with the winds starting to come a little offshore, temperatures are going to warm up. calls have been streaming in all day. we're
image of jonah. >> being thrown up literally by the whale. >> exactly. >> the reason it's significant, it's in the new testament. jesus says my resurrection will be like jonah. a jonah has never been found on any jewish art of the period. these are jews, but they're jews who are probably proclaiming jesus faith in his resurrection. >> this is 200 years earlier than any christian icon found in the catacombs of rome. this is the earliest christian icon ever found and next to it is a resurrection statement. the only resurrection statement ever found in an osuwary. >> you had to use a camera because, of course, the real ones are still underground. you had to get access through a camera. will you ever be able to -- >> under be a building. >> under a patio really. will you ever be able to bring them up and bring them to the world, the real thing, not the demos? >> right now these are museum quality replicas. they are going to be in a press conference at 11:00. they'll be on display there. >> they're beautiful. >> by an act of god the osuwaries happen to be in manhattan. >> nothing to do wit
? this is worse than foot in mouth disease. i think it was jonah goldberg who said, he is not fit to run for president. he cannot get his words right. he keeps saying these things that paint him as wildly out of touch, this guy is not a good politician. and then there are conservatives who attack him on the message itself. let the democrats handle the poor, they have their entitlement programs, when being a true conservative is trying to lift people in poverty out of poverty. >> and also what you're talking about, the two issues, the style and the substance is right on. stylistically, there has got to be a more artful way to discuss the idea of being a middle class candidate, okay? he fails there. substantively, what you're talking about is, it's not exactly a conservative idea or a conservative impulse to go out and divide up the country based on economic demographics, racial demographics, ethnic demographics. this is something the right, in fact, excoriates the left for doing. so on both counts, i think people who are supporting mitt romney and who are just conservatives watching this
and risch limbaugh. erick erickson has weighed in and jonah goldberg they say when it shows to them he can't make a conservative argument. is that true. >> we know what the attack on romney will consist of. he will be parented at heartless rich guy by the obama campaign. as a matter of tactics or strategy you probably ought not to play into that. romney can defend it on the merits. it is very true that the poor have more disposable income and time than the working poor. the real frustration for conservatives is he is having trouble making it and explaining the basic precepts of conservative. that is why they like newt in a lot of cases even though newt is not a consistent tent conservatism but he can explain ideas behind conserve tim and romney can't. martha: adding to that criticism, what tucker is getting that, is he not nimble and can't talk off-the-cuff and find himself going into these sort of difficult waters at tiles when he does. alan, he says this comment was taken out of context that it does not mean that he is not sensitive to the needs of the very poor. what is your end -- >> h
